How complex will the economy system be? Will it be something like ‘Battle for Middle Earth’ (only 1 type of economy building) or more in the range of ‘Settlers’ (extensive economy planning)?

  • Henry

Nice stuff! I always look forward to your videos every week! The game looks really interesting, a refreshing change from supcom.

I love to see what you guys are doing I always wanted to see video games being made.

Can someone tell me the email address to send question to?

  • Badstue

This is a rare insight in a big game production and I feel it works as a trustbuilder between the potential customer and the company.

And that thing about the queen.. That you actually listen to us is fantastic.

    Hello,

How do you manage your team? That’s a bit difficult to ‘feel’ how the project involves. Now the fresh ideas impact the development and how do you manage that… I feel that the ‘final release’ is a kind of moving target… re-estimated permanently.

Are you going to add micro-games in the game…?

  • Rusty

Will the range of units be like Supcom1 with lots or will it be more like Supcom2 with only a few that you upgrade

  • Computer Ed

Chris, great stuff. Will the game be using a Phsyics model to add to the visuals and if so what system are you going to use?

  • Klaus

Hy Chris, how will be managed the control of units? in a kind of scale, like 1 command for a batallion of 5 or 100 units? (like in game “medieval total war” for example)
It will be have any kind of castles, with moats and the soldiers will be able to defend the walls against any kind of siege warfare, and the moats will made for a more strategical viewpoint for the player turning the game more difficult but changing all the “felling” when you play a siege, with moat or without it ? (like in game “stronghold” for example).

    Thank you and best regards!

  • Xico

Ive seen the dragon but what about castles? will they be customizable? or will they be pre built?

  • Kopp

Just wanna say that this video blogg is awesomme stuff! Don’t get all xbox360 on me! Peace!

Q: Are you guys going to go with “preloaded” queues where the resources for EACH queued item are subtracted as the item is queued? or with queues that only deduct the necessary resources as the unit or building begins construction?

Please say the latter, please say the latter, please say….

Seriously though, a model where resources aren’t deducted until construction begins IMHO much more accurately reflects an intuitive EconomyUIgame relationship. I.e., one where the UI is more like a planning interface for your economy as opposed to a vending machine which spits out sweets as you feed it quarters.

Thanks for your time and for all your games. Been a fan since TA. REALLY appreciate your video blogs. Awesome!

    Take care.

    Chris,

Gas powered games is an established company, why does the office look so Barren and antiseptic?

    Mark

    (Especially programmers/artists stations)

  • Joel B

Hmm, no chickens in this video.

I too, was wondering about the barren cube farm.

  • Rasmus Badstue

I really hope you will consider including custom maps(+map editor), LAN support and mods from the start.. just look at SupCom2. Where to go when you have played all the standard maps ?! So it gets boring really fast.

  • Rasmus Badstue

The game industry needs to go back to the roots of smart and good game making. Take good care of your customers and fans. Make them happy with some solid gameplay and give them more freedom with the games bought.

  • IcyPlate

Great work you guys! You’re progressing really fast and I wish you good luck with the making :]

    4 questions & requests:

    1. Will you be using the superior economy model of Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander that you advertised left and right as being great? Or will you simplify/devolve it like with Supreme Commander 2?

    2. Will we be able to construct walls/defenses manually to add to the fun? So few games do this, and I’d love to see it.

    3. Will we be able to create our own custom formations? Or are you leaving it up to the GPG staff to predetermine what’s best for us, such as in Supreme Commander 2, which I absolutely despised (no offense, but I really think that PC gamers, unlike the console crowd prefer more complexity as it adds to the fun)

    4. Too little complexity leads to very low longevity. Please make it complex and most importantly, BRING BACK THE MODDING COMMUNITY! Let the game be moddable. I stopped playing Sup Com 2 already because of the lack of maps and mods. Nearly every game that has lots of people playing for years, and not just a few months, has a tremendous amount of content being provided to the user base whether it be from the developers themselves, or from the modding community. Also, do NOT have exclusive maps for this game, as that segments the community, and I didn’t pay $50 for access to only one 4v4 map. I was hoping for maybe at least 6-10 4v4 maps upon release. One was pretty damn sad, so PLEASE listen. I have bought so many of your games, and have become incredibly disillusioned from just how “consolized” and devolved Supreme Commander 2 was if you compare the feature sets and complexity/or lack of, to your older games. Bring us back to what you gave us before…a more complex product that may be a bit more nitch, but at least you wont be throwing away your customer base. I’ve been following you since Total Annihilation and TA: Core Contingency, Dungeon Siege 1 and 2, Supreme Commander, Forged Alliance, and Supreme Commander 2.

Kings and Castles looks great so far, but I just want to be reassured that it won’t be taking the “easy” or “simple” path because I ENJOY steeper learning curves. It keeps my interest. Simple games leads me to boredom within a few weeks and I end up quitting. So few games cater to my taste these days because the general trend is for developers to assume that their customers are dumb instead of intelligent and capable of learning more complex economies or battle tactics.
